Campaign Story

My name is Leslie and my husband and I have five children of our own. We tried for one more pregnancy, went through fertility treatments which ended in miscarriage, so now we are trying to adopt. We had no idea it cost so much to adopt a child. We don’t want that to be an issue preventing us from having more children to love. Our oldest three children are grown and on their own now, one having a baby of her own. We have a three and four year old at home. And we just feel we have so much more love to give, we’re not willing to give up. We filed paperwork to foster but the hardest part of that for me is having to give the child back eventually…especially if I know they’re not going back to a good home. Financially, we have the means to take care of and support more children, but no way to come up with the major costs of adoption fees upfront.

I grew up in a church where the pastor and his wife had 6 kids. I always loved how close they all were. I was probably around 12 when I decided I wanted as many kids as I could have. And we do have a large-ish family, which is just that much more love and support for a child who needs it. One of my adult daughters lives 2 hours away and whenever she comes to town, she ALWAYS has gifts in hand for her brother and sister. We are very close-knit, all of us. Not a day goes by that my grown children don’t call me 50x or call to talk to their brother and sister on FaceTime. So much love we all could offer another child.
